The Groenburgwal, one of the most beautiful locations in the old historic center of the city. Center of cloth weaving mills where wool was woven into cloth and then dyed. The Groenburgwal owes its name to the green dye houses that were located here.
In the nearby Staalstraat the cloth guild then judged the color and quality by the Staalmeesters, you know them, immortalized by Holland's pride Rembrandt van Rijn.
And then there is (just around the corner!) the famous Zuiderkerk and the Staalmeestersbrug that connects the Groenburgwal with the Staalstraat...and these were immortalized by Claude Monet!
